Birth: 1894 Camden, NSW, Australia Death: 11 Aug 1916 (age 22) Pozieres, France, Killed in Action Cemetery or Memorial: 280 Courcelette British Cemetery, France Father: Edward Percy CLOUT (15 Aug 1872 - 26 Sep 1948) Mother: Elizabeth Maud GARNER (1871 - 1939) Edward was educated at Balgownie Public School. He served his apprenticeship with W. Byrne in Wollongong. At the time of his enlisment Edward's parents address was the Tattersall's Hotel, Crown Street Wollongong NSW. Edward gave his occupation as Wheelwright when he enlisted in the Australian Army at Balgownie in August 1915 and served in the 13th Battalion A.I.F. He departed Sydney on the 'Suevic' 20 December 1915 and arrived in France via Egypt June 1916. Private Edward Percy CLOUT was reported missing in August 1916 and it was many months of anguish for his family before he was confirmed killed in action at Pozieres in France on 11 August 1916 age 22. |
